heard about us: Events boards outside the 'Greyhound' and literature handouts.
comments: We thought it was a good thing to do and seemed well supported; unusual and interesting (if a little bit pricey given the prevailing ecomony), but considering the equipment required and the volunteer cast, probably good value for money.

heard about us: Brochure in bookshop
comments: This was great. I expected it to be soulful ballads (which is my cup of tea), but every act was different. One act was very 'different' and it took a while for the audience to realise that it was humorous and it was OK to laugh. Darren has a lovely voice and he could have sung all evening as far as I was concerned. 24 Pesos were quite 'Blues Brothers' -the room was just a little tiny for their stage presence and volume- but that is no criticism of them.

next year: not sure
heard about us: word of mouth/publicity
comments: This was a poor street party. The punch and Judy was far too crowded and in far too small a space. The road should have been shut for it to have really been a street party. The butterfly garden was awful in that I had expeced real butterflies not the local school kids art project! There also didn't seem to be any kind of opening ceremony despite it being advertised.

heard about us: Word of mouth and festival printed programme
comments: This concert was of such a poor standard. It was billed as a 'professional concert' but the playing was dreadful. I was actually shocked at the standard and heard many people saying similar things. Don't promise a higher standard of something like classical music, than you can deliver.

heard about us: Email & posters
comments: My children go to Sydenham High but none of us knew about the art exhibition there, despite my reading all the info about the festival. Maybe I missed the advertising for it, but it seemed to be poorly signposted.
A suggestion - a branch of the festival to include a selection of art work from all Sydenham Schools 6th forms. The quality is high.
I went to several events - whole thing was excellent. Thank you to the organisers.

heard about us: Local posters, and got brochure from Kirkdale Bookshop
comments: I enjoyed all the things I went to. My only gripe is that frequently there were 2 or more events on the same night which I wanted to attend, so I had to choose between them. It might be an idea next year to run some of the events 2 or 3 times so that the audience could get to everything they wanted to. But I hope it was deemed successful overall - and didn't lose money!

heard about us: Saw posters, had mail shot through the door, picked up brochure
comments: S's Got Talent was of a higher quality than I expected, and the judges were obviously well-regarded professionals in their respective fields - but at the end of the day it was a kids' talent contest. I think therefore that it should have been cheaper than other concerts/events containing professional artists. Also, it would have been better held somewhere where there was a piano. Lack of such did "penalise" at least one of the competitiors who had to be accompanied on a portable keyboard!

comments: Interesting music (although no masterpieces ripe for revival, in my view), fascinating commentary (though not always easy to hear at the back.) But the programme was far too long - my wife flaked out and we had had to go home before the Nancarrow, which was disappointing.

comments: Think the organisers did an amazing job. Just wish I had more time to attend many more events than the two I did manage (and thoroughly enjoyed). That lady who managed to get to everything with her camera and take wonderful photos must be super human. Do you think she wore mechanised fairy wings?

I think it would be good to have an overall identity and individual posters for each event which will be visible when walking past before and during the festival so people can see things in their local area.

comments: It was good, although due to earlier rain we weren't sure if it was happening or not. Great feedback on the forum, perhaps twitter would have been good too.
Some great local talent showing films, and the venue in home park was good. Would have liked to have seen more in lower sydenham overall.

heard about us: word of mouth
comments: I would have liked to see other things but was unable to. Everything I heard about the festival was good. A massive well done to all involved. I very much liked the logo and the colours used on the publicity and the quality of the leaflets etc was very good (I am a graphic designer indcidentally_ and it all added to the sense of something special and exciting going on. I liked the way the listings were on the hoardings surrounding the greyhound and I love the greyhound mural.
I look forward to next years event and also think it encourages more cultural events to happen in Sydenham throughout the year, not just during the festival.

heard about us: flyer
comments: We were really looking forward to this particular event. Some of the short films were disappointing as many were quite old, enjoyed the cat animation and Def. The main film was spoilt due to drunks swearing and being generally abusive, we were hoping that the stewards (approx 4 people) would intervene but after half an hour into the main screening no - one challenged their behaviour.
Would love something similar next year, if abusive behaviour was challenged by staff.

heard about us: sydenham.org.uk & program from sydenham station
comments: i only manage to attend the wednesday comedy night. Some of the acts were adequate but some were not that good. I think it might have been the venue as well as the small crowd that played a part
In my opinion it would be better to have less events with better acts because this would draw in a bigger audience
spending the money was not a problem. i would want to support the events next year but want to get quality of venue and acts to rival a friday night out at the comedy club in balham
PS i thought instead of having the musicians on the first saturday playing on the street outside the 2 halfs why not at a stage with market etc on the grounds of the butterfly garden/ old age home next to blue mountain...

heard about us: We go every year to see London Bubble - I've been going since I was a kid in N London
comments: Bit cheeky for you to corall LB into SAF, but we're not complaining if it gets them a bigger audience! We LOVE the Bubble, and as ever this was a brilliant performance. Slightly overshadowed by the abusive (drunk? deranged? hates middle-class theatre-goers?) bloke hurling obscenities at someone in the audience when they shushed one of his 3 kids (am I overprotective in not wanting my 8-year-old and 6-year-old to hear f**k and c**t bandied about?), but what can you do when you put on theatre in public spaces? Loved the show, once it finally got going again. Inspiring, wonderful, funny, sad: a crime that they got their budget cut last year.
